I want you to love your jewelry, be satisfied with the quality and take pleasure in knowing you have purchased truly handcrafted work. Due to the handmade nature of my jewelry, slight variations in textures, patina, and shape may occur. Pieces that include stones may also vary as well due to the nature of natural stones.
How do I care for my new jewelry?
Here are a few key things to remember about caring for your new Holly Blue Jewelry:
Remember last on and first off. Put your jewelry on last after you’ve finished hair, make-up, and perfume and remember to take your jewelry off first, before you wash your face, shower, or put on lotion.
Also important: Wipe down your silver jewelry periodically with a polishing cloth to keep the metal fresh and clean. You can use a silver polishing cloth to brighten your jewelry as needed.
If your jewelry has an oxidized or blackened finish, do not use chemical dips to polish, the finish will be removed and you will be left with a shiny finish. You should not polish the oxidized portion just the shiny finished sections with a silver polishing cloth.
Does sterling silver tarnish?
In short, yes it does. The best defense against tarnish is to wear your jewelry regularly. Sterling tarnishes because it contains some base metals in it (sterling is 925 parts pure silver, 75 parts alloy). Having a small amount of base metal in it makes it much stronger and better for everyday jewelry use. The base metal content is what causes the tarnishing.
To polish sterling silver just use a soft polishing cloth and wipe silver. Storing your sterling in a ziploc bag can also delay/prevent tarnishing.
Is it ok to wear my jewelry swimming?
It’s best not to swim in your jewelry. Chlorine will affect your jewelry. Depending on the level of chlorine, your silver and copper could turn anywhere from just dull and grey to black. Showering with your jewelry on is fine, just don’t let it stay wet.
Do you do repairs?
In the very unlikely event your jewelry piece breaks, I will repair it free of charge (less return shipping costs) within three months of date of purchase. After that time, I may have to charge a small fee. Please email me first to discuss the nature of the repair required.
What if I lost an Earring?
I am happy to replace your lost earring. Just contact me with the type of earring that you lost and I’ll be happy to make you a match for just the cost of the one earring. You won’t need to buy another pair.
